The Shevapet School was the first of Sri Vidya Mandir School to be started on 20th October 1969 in a small hut at Maruthi Building, Shevapet, Salem-2. The rooms at Maruthi building were insufficient for the school. Hence a new place at Periya Eluthukara Street was taken for rent and a new building was declared open by Sri E.M.N. Narayana Chettiar, Shevapet, Salem-2, under the Presidentship of Sri C. Annamalai Chettiar, Managing Trustee, Salem Shevapet Vaniyasya Samuga Nandavana Committee at Neimandi Arunachalam Street. Gugai, Salem-6. Sri R.P. Sarathy, Chairman, Sri Vidya Mandir Trust laid foundation on 11.3.87 and New building was declared open by Dr. G. Soodamani, M.S., Chairman, Salem Municipal Council under the presidentship of Sri R.P. Sarathy, Chairman, Sri Vidya Mandir Trust, Salem-3 on 2-10-87. Today the School has a folly grown junior College.

The school believes in discipline and firmness. Disobedience and disregard of rules will not be tolerated and will be regarded as the breach of school discipline.

1.Parents are requested not to enter the classrooms to visit their wards or teachers during school hours without written permission of the principal.

2.For the safety and security of the students, leave for half day should not be asked for. In emergency, written permission must be taken from the principal and the class teacher, coordinator and the transport incharge should be informed accordingly if student availing transport facilities. The student will be allowed to go home only with their parents.

3.Students must come in proper and perfect uniform.

4.Students must not bring valuable article viz., expensive watches, jewellery toschool. In case of any loss of valuable or other articles, the school will try their best to find the article but it shall not take any responsibility for the loss.

5.Parents are suggested to avoid criticism of the teacher or the school in front of the children as it causes them to lose respect for teachers.

6.Parents are requested to co-operate with the school to help their children’s progress by paying attention and almost care towards their children.

7.If any complaint, please meet the principal in person. He/she will look into these matters personally.
